Heat Wave Days

We're not having lessons right now because it's over 100 degrees. Even with air conditioning, expecting young children to concentrate in this heat is asking for trouble. So why are Mississippi schools starting back this week, at the start of the hottest month on the Mississippi calendar? It's crazy.

TN schools are starting back this week. They begin with a half day on Friday. That doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but it does mean that we homeschoolers can start making weekday plans and know that we have things to ourselves soon.

Well, if the schools have good air conditioning...

My DH says that year-round school has never caught on here in the Phoenix area because schools can't afford to run the AC all summer long. Yet they start back this week, too, the hottest part of the year. Makes no sense to me.

The same thing is happening in Albuquerque. Luckily, we've been having our big rainy season - rainier than we've have in some time - right about now.

Oh, so that's where our rain is! We have cracks in our yard over two feet deep.
